Summer can be challenging for dry skin, especially if you live in an area with low humidity. Here are a few tips for healthy summer skin:
- Sun Exposure- Limit direct sunlight during the mid-day heat- not only is it damaging to skin but it can dry it out too.
- Avoid Chemical Ingredients- Many chemicals in bug repellents and solvents, which you might use for gardening projects, can be irritating and make skin feel dry and itchy. Use mild cleansers with moisturizing properties that are free of fragrances and dyes, which can irritate skin further.
- Swimming and Bathing- Chlorine in pools is a harsh chemical that can pull moisture from the skin quickly. Avoid it as much as possible and take shorter warm showers or baths to rinse off skin. Too much time in the water is not helpful for dry skin!
- Air Conditioning- The air conditioner pulls humidity out of the air, thus triggering dry skin.
